Dr. Branko Barać is a distinguished specialist in internal medicine and rheumatology based in Belgrade, Serbia. He serves at the Institute of Rheumatology and is actively involved in private practice. In 2018, he earned his Ph.D. from the University of Belgrade, focusing his dissertation on the role of sexual steroid hormones in acute myocardial infarction among men over 40 years old.
Dr. Barać is renowned for his expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound and regenerative medicine. He co-developed the innovative Barać-Saftić (BS) method, a regenerative treatment for cartilage damage in the hip and knee. This technique combines mesenchymal stem cells from the patient’s iliac bone marrow with a cellular matrix composed of platelet-rich plasma and hyaluronic acid, administered under ultrasound guidance.
His clinical services encompass abdominal, soft tissue, and thyroid ultrasounds, as well as densitometry for osteoporosis diagnosis. Dr. Barać is a certified EULAR instructor and trainer in musculoskeletal ultrasound, holding Level 2 certification.
Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Barać is the Secretary General of the Serbian Society for the Study of Male Aging and a member of several national and international medical associations. He also contributes to sports medicine as a member of the medical commission for the Crvena Zvezda basketball club and serves as the physician for the Serbian national golf team.
Dr. Barać is married to former tennis star Jelena Janković, with whom he has a daughter. The couple met in 2020 during a medical consultation following the Adria Tour tennis event.
