Prof. Francesco Lotti

Prof. Francesco Lotti, MD, PhD, is a distinguished Italian endocrinologist and clinical andrologist, currently serving as Associate Professor at the Department of Experimental and Clinical Biomedical Sciences « Mario Serio » at the University of Florence. He also practices at the Andrology, Female Endocrinology, and Gender Incongruence Unit of Careggi University Hospital in Florence.

He graduated cum laude in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Florence in 2005, where he later completed his specialization in Endocrinology and Metabolic Diseases in 2010, followed by a PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2014. In the same year, he received the title of “Clinical Andrologist” from the European Academy of Andrology (EAA).

Prof. Lotti is internationally recognized for his research in male reproductive ultrasound and the study of male infertility, erectile and ejaculatory dysfunctions, chronic pelvic pain, and lower urinary tract symptoms. His work also investigates the relationship between these conditions and broader metabolic and endocrine disorders such as diabetes, obesity, hypogonadism, and hyperprolactinemia. He was a co-author of key studies that contributed to the 2021 WHO Manual for Semen Analysis.

He holds several leadership roles within major scientific societies. He is the Coordinator of the EAA Ultrasound School and serves on its Educational Committee. He also coordinates the Ultrasound School of the Italian Society of Andrology and Sexual Medicine (SIAMS), and leads the Andrology Special Interest Group of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE-SIGA). Additionally, he is part of the Scrotal and Penile Imaging Working Group of the European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR-SPIWG).

Prof. Lotti has authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed publications, with a Scopus h-index of 45 and over 4,900 citations, making him one of the leading voices in clinical andrology and reproductive endocrinology. He is actively involved in medical education, mentoring students and professionals in andrology and advanced ultrasound diagnostics, and is frequently invited to speak at international congresses, including BioBridge.
