Mastering Ultrasound-Guided Musculoskeletal Injections

Series of 8 educational videos has been designed to support physicians in performing ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections in a rigorous, safe, and reproducible manner.

It combines a review of best practices (asepsis and equipment), focused anatomical refreshers, patient positioning, probe placement, and real-time ultrasound needle tracking, through the demonstration of 7 common procedures drawn from everyday clinical practice in musculoskeletal medicine.

This program was developed with the participation of :

• Prof. Fabrice Michel (Besançon University Hospital),

• Dr. Guillaume Paris (founder of IMSS Paris),

• Dr. Marine Delcros (Nord Franche-Comté Hospital).

Ultrasound-Guided Musculoskeletal videos

There are multiple indications for performing intra-articular or intratendinous injections, which will not be reviewed here, as the objective of these videos is to teach the technical performance of injection procedures under ultrasound guidance.

We emphasize the importance of establishing an accurate diagnosis, based on thorough history-taking, careful clinical examination, and appropriate complementary investigations to characterize the targeted structure and rule out differential diagnoses.

Finally, it should be recalled that movement is the first-line treatment, and that indications for injections most often arise after the failure of a well-conducted rehabilitation program.
